The College of Built Environments awarded Research Restart funding to multiple project teams in 2022. Below are descriptions of their progress and project status to-date.
July 2022 Cohort:
- Arthur Acolin received funding for their project entitled “Accessory Dwelling Units as Potential Source of Affordable Housing Across Generations.” A no-cost extension was approved in May 2023 due to delays in implementing the survey for the project. In July 2023, design of the survey instrument and postcards was completed, and next steps for the project included working with UW Creative Communication for printing/mailing.
- Vikram Prakash was awarded funding to support their book project entitled “A House Deconstructed” which is available now for purchase.
- Ken Yocom and Branden Born received funding for their project entitled “Seattle Neighborhood Ambassador Program (SNAP)” but the project team returned funds mid-way through the year after not getting community buy-in at the time for this project.
- Ann C. Huppert received funding for their continuing work entitled “Visiting Senior Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.” A portion of the research restart funding was also used to fund course buy-out offset.

- Manish Chalana was awarded funding to support their work in archival research.
- Elizabeth Golden was awarded funding to support their research on Earth based construction in Phoenix.
