Dr. Bita Astaneh Asl graduated with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on construction, energy, and sustainable infrastructure engineering from the University of  Washington. She has a MSc. degree in geotechnical engineering from the K.N. Toosi University of Technology, and a MSc. degree in construction, energy, and sustainable infrastructure engineering from the University of Washington. She has a combination of eight years of research experience in construction and geotechnical engineering. Her research studies are focused on the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Reality (VR) in the AEC industry as well as foundation and earthquake engineering. She has been teaching at the UW since 2014. She teaches a variety of courses for the CM Department, including CM 515 – Innovative Project Management Concepts, CM 432 – Soils and Foundations, CM 414 – Virtual Construction, and CM 323 – Methods and Materials II. She has gained industry experience as an intern at McMillen Jacobs Associates, W.G. Clark Construction, and the UW Capital Projects Office.
