Assistant Dean for Research; Director of Urban@UW

Jen Davison is the assistant dean for research at the College of Built Environments. She is also the director of Urban@UW, a cross-campus initiative connecting scholars who study cities to each other, and to city stakeholders, in support of community-engaged research addressing urban challenges. Her background and expertise are in research collaborations, particularly those spanning disciplines, sectors and communities. With a MS in natural resource science, Jen studied how wildlife and landscapes respond to land use and climate change, and worked closely with regional stakeholders to identify and create research-based tools for managing resources threatened by these drivers. She joined University of Washington’s College of the Environment in 2010, where she developed their science communication program to provide opportunities, training, and support for College scientists to make their research useable by others outside academia. Jen was program manager for Livable City Year in 2016, a 2017 Community Engagement Fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Leadership Tomorrow fellow in 2018, co-chaired UW-Seattle’s Carnegie Classification Working Group in 2019, program manager for the Applied Research Consortium in 2020, and is the current Vice President of the Board of Directors for the UW Professional Staff Organization.
