Mobile Cities

Completed in 2018.

Rachel Berney’s work in Bogotá revealed that enhancing peoples’ personal mobility is one of the most important and effective ways to increase equity in city environments. She defines this as the “right to mobility” –equitable access to safe, pleasurable, and useful transportation options that do not require a personal vehicle. This research project focuses on the equitable inclusion of all people in city transportation networks and how peoples’ personal mobility is shaped by socioeconomic status, by neighborhood, and by city-scale urban design and planning decisions.
